Camera Systems and Calibration Engineer

The role

We record first-person footage of skilled physical work with our own multi-camera capture rigs, and we fine-tune embodied models on what we capture. Every hour of footage is only worth what its calibration can prove. You own that proof: optics, calibration, and image quality, end to end.

This is one of the hardest technical problems in the company. Everything we train downstream inherits your work.

What you'll do

• Own camera calibration end to end: intrinsics, fisheye distortion models, multi-camera extrinsics.
• Align cameras to the IMU in space and time. Verify sync at the sub-millisecond level.
• Characterize lenses and sensors: MTF, distortion, chromatic aberration, low-light behavior.
• Tune the ISP so color and exposure stay consistent across cameras in mixed workshop lighting.
• Design calibration rigs and fixtures, and the software pipeline that runs them.
• Define the per-unit QA gate for every rig that ships.
• Monitor calibration drift on rigs in the field and decide when a unit comes home.

What we look for

• Deep experience with camera calibration and multi-view geometry.
• You've shipped imaging or capture hardware, or the pipelines behind it.
• You own problems from optics to Python without waiting for permission.
• You get on a plane when the data says something is wrong at a capture site.

Nice to have

• Camera-IMU calibration tools such as Kalibr.
• Fisheye camera models: Kannala-Brandt, Scaramuzza.
• ISP tuning on a shipped product.
• Factory calibration or end-of-line test experience.
